The Endless Capabilities of Embroidery Machines

Hand embroidery is of course passé due to the complexities of it, the time it takes to create hand embroidery, and the fact that it truly is an art that can be replaced by machinery without the loss of the beauty of the particular embroidered item. Embroidery machines now of course have extraordinary capabilities thanks to computers.

Imagine, for example being able to make perfect concentric circles by hand? Or imagine making perfect arcs in order to embellish your work? With an embroidery machine these tasks are not only possible but actually are extremely easy to accomplish.

Try to imagine the complexities of trying to make raised 3-D stitches using specialty threads that really don’t fit through the eye of a needle? Embroidery machines can do that using bobbin threads to create this, that in effect make a reverse upside down stitch quite possible.

Another instance of pure embroidery machine magic is actual multi-directional sewing. Thus a machine can now accomplish sewing in 8 different directions using straight stitches and even accomplish sewing in 4 different directions if using a zig zag stitch!

Further, embroidery machines are now capable of sewing on what used to be hard to manage fabrics such as thick quilts, or rich thirsty towel material. Putting together purely elegant embellished towels will give your bathroom that designer look you love easily with such an embroidery machine! Working with velvet used to be such an incredible pain for someone with an embroidery machine that they would tear their hair out, but the newer machines makes velvet as easy to work with as cotton is. Home décor has never been so easy!

It’s difficult to imagine what the elderly Chinese women who used to work their entire lives creating some of the Chinese embroidered art works as shown in the Forbidden City would say about our embroidery machines. Today, embroidery machines used by housewives for their hobby can embroider up to 1,000 stitches per minute and do it perfectly each and every time too!

Then to top it all off, imagine being able to create your very own stitches and have your machine remember them for later when you wish to use them again? You can actually have your very own personalized stitch library!  How about finding a stitch that you believe is really close to perfect, if only you could change a wee bit of it? That’s possible too using the LCD screen on your embroidery machine, and to make it all even more perfect, not only is the size totally adjustable but also the density, height and width of that stitch too! Your computer connectivity enables you to combine stitch patterns as well as updating your machine for years after purchase.

Yes, today’s embroidery machines still look like sewing machines, but they can do so much more! The advancements in embroidery machines would give nightmares to those old Chinese ladies, that’s for sure, but that still does not minimize the amazing work that they did with their fingers!
