Embroidered Gifts to Make

Especially when September rolls around and I have not thought of making Christmas gifts I sense panic starting to well through me, and each year I swear I will get started with making gifts as soon as the holidays are over. Being human, I just don’t start and end up putting it off until about September. Here are a number of delightful embroidered things you can make for gifts.

If you have a med. student, nurse or Doctor in your list, you should make embroidered stethoscope cover! Unless you’ve worn one around your neck all day, you have no idea how the rubber irritates your skin!  In addition, human oils on the rubber will deteriorate that stethoscope rather quickly, thus this is a necessity for most stethoscope users. I always use bright colors in mine, and if the person works with pediatrics, I even use embroidered balloons and cartoon animals to make stethoscope covers.

Have you noticed how expensive those neck pillows are that are filled with rice that you throw into the microwave for blessed warm heat on hurting backs and necks? I have made many of these for friends and family, and I toss in some dried lavender so that they smell great coming out of the microwave too! If there’s more than one user of these in a family, it’s always nice to personalize the embroidery so that each knows which belongs to whom.

If you wish to make gifts for your regular customers that are not very expensive but are always loved, you can make a bookmark as a gift. I always embroider one side with the name of my company, and the other side with beautiful flowers that can be suited for either a male or a female. If you wish to spend money on it, add a tassel at the end, though that’s not necessary but it’s a cute idea.

One of the best wedding gifts you can make will be a scrapbook along with the scrapbook cover upon which you have embroidered the names of the husband and wife, along with the date of their marriage. In this way, not only have you given them something that they will treasure all their married life, but also you’ve made it highly personalized, which embroidered gifts are renowned for. But, most of all you know that the item will be used!

If you’ve got someone going off to college for the first time, this idea is quite the winner. An embroidered laundry bag with the name of the student embroidered upon it. It’s amazing how often students lament that they’ve lost their laundry bag because either someone stole it, or because they picked up the wrong bag. Not only will they think of you every time they use it, but the personalization on the bag stops those laundry bag “errors” from happening too!

If you know someone who is expecting twins, this will be a wonderful gift for them. Either or both of these items will bring giggles and smiles, guaranteed! The first is baby bibs on which you’ve embroidered “Feed me first!” on them, guaranteed to please. Then also matching shirts onto which you’ve embroidered “One of two” and “Two of two” on them. Granted it’s Mommy’s choice, which twin gets to wear which!
